The eight-millennium long history of Plovdiv gives it the right to be considered a contemporary of early human civilizations and one of the most ancient towns in Europe. Plovdiv, situated along the two banks of the river Mariitsa, lies in the largest, the warmest and the most fertile lowland in the whole Balkan Peninsula – The Thracian plain. In Plovdiv the hills, decorated with greenery and old –time houses always surround you.
