The eight-millennium long history of Plovdiv gives it the right to be considered a contemporary of early human civilizations and one of the most ancient towns in Europe. Brilliant antiquity, middle ages with elements of the Orient, Revival and Baroque combine with the folklore tradition to give the key-note to today’s town centre. The town is crossing point of cultures, epochs, religions and a crossing point of roads connecting countries and continents.
Plovdiv, situated along the two banks of the river Mariitsa, lies in the largest, the warmest and the most fertile lowland in the whole Balkan Peninsula – The Thracian plain. In Plovdiv the hills, decorated with greenery and old –time houses always surround you.


The Plovdiv Old Town (2nd century Roman theatre, 17th and 19th centuries colrful buildings) is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.


In Plovdiv you can see the gold Thracian treasure of Panagyurishte – 6 kg of pure gold – of the Thracian art from the 4th century and the beginning of 3rd century BC, the Roman Forum, the Roman Stadium.


The old houses and churches from the period of Bulgarian national Revival are not less interesting to visit.
